Parent Volunteer Game Day Job Descriptions

 

Gate

This position is responsible for collecting fees for league games and league tournaments.  The team manager will provide you with the cash box and change.  A table will be set up outside the rink doors and fees are listed on a sign in the box.  Please check family passes; family passes cover immediate family only.  Grandparents/extended family must have their own pass or pay the fee.  Checks are for the amount of fees only.  Arrive at rink 30 minutes prior to game time and do not leave until after the intermission between 2nd and 3rd period

 

Clock

This position is responsible for setting the times for periods, penalties, warm ups and intermissions and entering goals.  Arrive at the rink 30 minutes prior to game time to get the warm up times set up in the clock.  A tutorial is available online for detailed information on how to run the clock.

 

Music/Home Penalty Box

This position is responsible for playing music and opening/closing the door for the box.  Arrive 15 minutes before game time.  If you are the first game of the day retrieve the laptop from the concession stand used for playing music.  If you are the last game of the day return the laptop to the concession stand.  Play music between periods and during stoppage of play.  Open the door for players on the home team that are serving penalties.  Watch the clock to open the door when the player should be released.  When a player is serving a major penalty (10 minutes) the player is released after his/her ten minutes are served at the next stoppage of play.

 

Visitor Penalty Box

This position is responsible for opening/closing the door for the visitor penalty box.  Arrive 15 minutes before game time. Open the door for players on the opposing team that are serving penalties.  Watch the clock to open the door when the player should be released.  When a player is serving a major penalty (10 minutes) or there are coincidental penalties the player is released after his/her penalty is served at the next stoppage of play.

 

Score Sheet/Live Scoring

This position is responsible for completing the score sheet, entering live scores onto the SDAHA website and announcing teams, goals and penalties over the sound system.  Arrive at the rink 20 minutes before game time.  Obtain the score sheet from the Team Manager/Coach.  Track goals, penalties, etc as indicated on the score sheet.  Be sure the officials and coaches sign the score sheet.  Give one copy of the score sheet to each coach and put a copy in the clear bin in the locker room hallway.  Live scoring is necessary for all League Games (PeeWee and up).  A tutorial is available online for detailed information on how do live scoring.
